Halo Round The Sun

The daytime sky is a constantly changing arena of light and colour.

The weather in the UK can be wet and grey yet in between the showers there’s a lot of interesting phenomena going on above our heads.

The other day whilst enjoying the Sun, I noticed a 22° Halo. I’ve seen these numerous times, but never get bored of them.

They are caused by sunlight shining through ice crystals in high altitude clouds. It’s always worth having a look up if there’s thin cloud in the sky. You might spot one
